FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GRANDMA TAKE ME HOME:
Miami - Metro Color Collision proudly invites you to
join us for "Grandma Take Me Home" in our home away from home at
the Cavalier Hotel for the Frisbee Art Fair. We hope your stay is
pleasant and our hospitality reminds you of your home, which quite
frankly, is nothing like this is. You probably have a home, or something
vaguely reminiscent of one, assuming you hold a distinct conception
of what that notion really means. We thought we did until this exhibition
reconfigured all those elementary notions of "home is where the
heart is" or whatever other bullshit we so dearly embraced. Your
mother still uses that four-letter word every time she calls: H-O-M-E.
We decided to reinvent and recreate whatever that idea implies in
the given space of our pseudo-home, the hotel room. In its very
essence, the hotel room is the anti-thesis of home, a laboratory
for curators to restructure the gathered artifacts. The barren walls
- wallpaper or not - become the canvas for repositioning subtle
reminders of familiar things loosely assembled to maintain that
peaceful decorum that your mind longs for when conjuring up notions
of that enchanted place. IF home is just another four-letter word
that you employ because it's succinct, or better yet, completely
a murky place because you never bothered planting roots, then our
artists have the perfect antidote: their own version of home. Each
featured artist comes from an entirely specific vista, recreating,
reassessing and redistributing whatever distant memory, distinct
object or singular moment that helps shape his or her perception
of what four walls and a roof really means. Please join us for on
the 1st floor of the Cavalier Hotel for some good times, happy stories
and your own, personal home coming. After all, everyone needs one.
We look forward to seeing you there.
