[ AFRIRAMPO ]
The newly released record Kore Ga Mayku Da (on John Zorn’s avant
experimental label Tzadik) proves that the high energy Japanese sexy
lady duo is more than just two high energy sexy ladies. Influenced by their Osaka Underground contemporaries Acid Mothers Temple and the Boredoms, the two achieve a new dimension of bizarre noise psychedelia through “obtuse guitars and squally vocals clashing over grinding riffs and John Zorn influenced percussion.” Instrument stroking and nudity is just icing on the cake.

[ LIGHTNING BOLT ]
Two man drums and bass guitar maddening explosion, churning rubber
mallets of drumlins pounding out catchy staccato beats at 5x speed
alongside rising and falling crazy nood-ly bass. Prog and metal and some sort of twisted new cranked up jazz in costume, in the dark, on the floor. Think Slayer with the Boredoms plus crunk addled free jazz. Several records out on Load record out of Providence, RI

[ Aa / BIG A little a ]
Aa / BIG A little a is a five piece, four percussionist choreographed noise & flashing lights & sweat & (most of the time) stationary marching band explosion. “Aa (BIG A little a) has a very swank one-sided LP out on Narnack. It has a very beautiful way of shifting its center in unexpected ways. The single side of music is a fat tableau of the kindsa sounds that young people should be making and enjoying in bistros from here to Kalamazoo. Here they club out bite-sized hunks of neo-no, new-wave-electro-murk, disco-noise readymades, French duck calls and a buncha other stuff. And it sounds quite pleasing!” - Thurston Moore, Arthur Magazine

[ USAISAMONSTER ]
USAISAMONSTER are unbelievable awesomeness - yeah, in the Lightning Bolt vein but with Southern charm and great spazzed out Zeppelinized prog punk chops - induces sweat and involuntary swaying. “the USAISAMONSTER is a brilliantly fried two-piece guitar and drums band of sun spotters hailing from Brooklyn, NY. The band has roved the planet with instruments strapped to their backs playing the tops of mountains, skin-melting deserts, and rusted out America.” - Load Records “Crawling out of the same petri dish that’s spawned put-on-a-helmet-and-drool-bucket rock like Lightning Bolt, Usaisamonster’s multi-clawed attack chomps you with prog, punk, Sabbath/Zeppelin riffs, and spaz-thrash.” - Village Voice. Sweaty & transcendent.

[ FREE BLOOD ]
John XI Pugh & Gorman from !!! (aka Chk Chk Chk) + their friend Mattie
= a new super trashy bass and beats white fur funk pop outfit. Coed
three piece, “bass, busted synth, male/female vocals. “Miami
booty-bass/Outkast/Shangri-Las concoction” - FLAVORPILL.COM

[ JAPANTHER ]
“Sweaty punk dudes Ian Vanek and Matt Reilly of Japanther make a
glorious racket out of vocals, live drums, an Akai MPC, and a
fuzzed-beyond-belief bass guitar. Vanek and Reilly may have played
their early shows opening for noise-rock stalwarts Lightning Bolt and
Pink & Brown, with whom they certainly share an affinity for volume
and density, but they also employ hip-hop informed beats and samples,
and tend to rely on the tempo and pacing of hardcore punk. Bits of pop
melody and structure are carried almost solely by the ever-present
fuzz-bass, as Vanek and Reilly bark, scream, and shout unison chorus
lines over the lo-fi din.” – Pitchfork “Japanther, a pair of 24-year-olds, channel MC5, Urge Overkill, the White Stripes, and are wholly original.” - the Miami Herald

[ ELOE OMOE ]
“Eloe Omoe is a bass and drums duo of rock refusers from Charlestown,
MA. Driven by tandem tactics of low-end subterfuge and drum tumble…” -
Infrasound.com . These fellas thrash to your heart through your
eardrums until it is hard to even tell the difference.

[ PARTS AND LABOR ]
controlled chaotic odd rock destruction from BJ Warshaw, Dan Friel,
and Christopher Weingarten. Bass, electronic explosions, and
pummelling drums = quirky awesome rock n’ roll.

[ GROWING ]
two piece “enveloping waves of finely wrought feedback and static that
tap into the cosmos’ universal hum - holy whorls of drones.” - Portland Mercury. Growing have records out on Kranky Records, Zum and
Animal Disguise, and are soon to release an album on MegaBlade /
Troubleman Unlimited. “Reach for an initial word, a label - say Doom
Metal - then watch, as the demonic guitars slowly morph into demonstrative bliss. Drone may come a bit closer to the truth, but only slightly, as silence plays an equally significant role in the proceedings. Alas, Growing’s anomalous sounds dwell in perpetual nigh-fidelity, permeating the gaps between equalizer settings with evasive intent, frustrating any attempt at optimization, and therefore, classification.” - Luke Calzonetti, Child Abuse

[ MATT & KIM ] –> aka Kim & Matt
if you’ve attended any previous Japanther performance - or most any
Brooklyn show worth its punk cred for that matter - then Kim & Matt
will be two familiar faces. Two accomplished visual artists as well as
an awesome (as well as perennial) rock n punk duo, spactic spazz out
drums and fúckin’ awesome keyboard and vocals. Matt plays (played?) in
Amanda Noa as well.

[ TALIBAM ]
Matt Mottel, Kevin Shea, Ed, and their sporadic collaborating friends
somehow turn fúcking around into intriguing, sometimes gorgeous and
mind blowing improvisational awesomeness. Synthesizers, electronics,
baritone and tenor saxophones with electronics, yelps and moans, and
drums.

[ NECKING ]
Jason & Nick from Flight of the Buffalo go nuts on the dbl drums.
Anyone who watched their seminal lakeside performance, accompanied by
a sunset and geese taking flight - in Prospect Park this last spring -
knows the beauty that these two men, outside, with full drums kits
between them can provide.

[ CINDERS GALLERY ]
Cinders is an artist-run artspace and store @ 103 Havemeyer St in Williamburg, Brooklyn. ““For summertime art as light as a lemonade, drift by Cinders, a Williamburg, Brooklyn, storefront with a street-facing gallery and a shop in the back. The gallery space is minute, about the size of a one-room cabin. Cinders’s artist-owners, Kelie Bowman and Sto (he uses a one-word name), designed and built it. The gallery’s shop, crammed with artist-made zines, comics, coloring books and clothes, feels like a general store selling sundries and notions. About as communal and total as you can get in this town.” - the New York Times “The idea for Cinders began from a feeling of isolation from the art world and most galleries here in New York. We wanted a place to show our art that felt more homey and warm, not cold and institutionalized. When we realized that we were not alone and that there was quite a significant art community who felt the same way, we were inspired to start a space direc
ted at bringing together these like-minded people and show artwork that came from this community, art that wasn’t really being shown or talked about in other galleries. When one of our houses burned down last winter, it put the requisite “fire” under our ásses to actually do it and hence, “Cinders” was born. With so many artists making a variety of work these days, the shop part enables us to offer a place for people to show the different kinds of things they make and also to be able to sell them at affordable prices. With our roots firmly planted in DIY punk ethos, we believe that art can be affordable to everyone and not just the affluent.” - CindersGallery.com

[ METROCOLORCOLISSION ]
An independent curatorial collective based in Long Island City - and the folks behind LIC’s Action Jackson, the LIC storefront gallery and occasional show/party space @ 26-25 Jackson Ave - as well as a travelling curatorial experiment in recent months. “Metro Color Collision is a curatorial group that seeks to bring together really talented people who are often overlooked and disregarded by bigger galleries and contemporary art centers because of New York City’s increasingly market driven predisposition. While artists fill our city in abundance, ambition and
persistence are often overshadowed by big bad commercialism that gives
the lesser-known guys a minimal chance to display their talents. We do
not accept that at MCC so our duty is to bring these artists together
and give their efforts the chance to thrive. Our current exhibition space is unrefined but our perceptive palette most certainly is not . Each exhibition is self-developed through the collaboration of our curators and our artists; we do not impose any structural or preconceived aesthetic ideals or limitations on our space or our audience.” - MetroColorCollision.com

[ PATRICK HENRY FORAN ]
“Images (oil paintings, ink drawings) by a young man with a unique vision. Pat Foran is a 23 year old artist living and working in the badlands of industrial Brooklyn. His escapist vs. realist style coupled with the use of raw pigments and emotive color combinations make his work a must see.” - TAPESRECORDS.COM. In addition to his art, Pat plays bass in Nightmerica and attends many a show. He is also a roady extraordinaire. See for yourself -

[ CHARLOTTE GIBBONS & GEOFF NOSACH ]
Charlotte Gibbons & Geoff Nosach will show one of a series of contextual performance installations. Having collaborated over the past year and a half, their past works are best described as site-specific architectural structures that necessitate real time performance events. The piece being shown will employ sound, sculpture, set design, dance, and improvisation to create a synesthetic absurdity that can be called art.
